From start to impact: Ben Wouters at Nobleo Manufacturing
Two years at Nobleo, Martijn's story
Two years ago, I, Martijn, joined Nobleo Manufacturing as an Industrial Engineer. After studying Mechanical Engineering in Den Bosch and Manufacturing System Engineering at TU/e, I came across Nobleo at a recruitment event during my studies. The combination of engineering and industrial management felt like it would fit me, and it really does. Two years later, I contributed to projects for several clients and internally to the development of our Jobshop tool.
Learning by doing
My first project at Nobleo Manufacturing was at a construction client, where I started working on production challenges. After about a half year, more projects followed quickly. At one point I was running five projects simultaneously, which is quite the juggling act, but also exactly what I like about this job.

Every project is different
Working across multiple projects means constantly switching context. At a high-tech client, I worked as a Supplier Quality Engineer, supporting suppliers who develop complex tooling for high-precision machines. I ensured that the right processes are in place and that quality standards are met. At a construction client, I am currently wrapping up the project by preparing full documentation of the simulation tool we developed, so the client can take it over with everything they need.
Building the Nobleo Jobshop
Then there is the Jobshop project. It is my favourite project, mainly because I developed it from scratch with colleagues at Nobleo. Setting up the timeline, the roadmap, defining what we would and would not build, shaping the code architecture. Basically, from nothing to something.
“I have put a lot of effort into it and I want to see it actually become something we can sell to a client. That is what I find most exciting, to be part of that process.”

Right now, I am developing a smart module that helps customers decide whether to accept an order, and what impact that order would have on their factory. It is the kind of work that sits right at the intersection of Manufacturing Intelligence and practical problem solving.
Looking ahead
I have learned a lot in the past two years. I would like to keep developing software tooling for Manufacturing Intelligence that really impacts the customer, as well as continuing with the projects in the high-tech sector. I am looking forward to the challenge of balancing both!
